Traveling affords us new experiences fun and exciting
Traveling affords us new experiences, fun and
exciting. It can bring out the best in us, but it can also bring out the
worst. Lena writes of such a story in her "Fifty Cents to Use the
Bathroom" where her husband lets someone 1/4 his size get the best of him.
Lena sets the stage nicely preparing the reader
for the fifty-cent bathroom encounter. She writes out the words used by the
natives of Cozumel to give the reader a sense of being there such as "dees
island." She also hits a nerve with almost everyone who has traveled to
anywhere South of the Border where there are always peddlers and a
catch.
Her husband, trying to quench nature's call,
heads to a public restroom and finds that it will cost him money. The
small woman confronts him with the cost, which is fifty cents (nothing
really)and he balks and goes to a restaurant instead where he has to buy lunch
to use the bathroom. His idea was that it's the principle of the matter.
Lena's moral is that his principles cost him $29.50 more and gave him more
reason to need to use the bathroom again later.

"I love reading Lena's stories. She
puts so much emotion into her writing. You feel as if you are going through her
experiences as you ride the roller coaster of emotion detailed throughout her
wonderful stories."
